Florida Tech Dropped in OT by Lynn

Fighting Knights knock Panthers to 3-3 in SSC play with 102-94 defeat

BOCA RATON, Fla. (Men's Basketball) – A Jordan Majors layup in the closing seconds gave FIT an extra five minutes but ultimately Florida Tech was thwarted by Lynn Friday night, falling by a final score of 102-94.

Majors led the FIT offense in the contest, notching 30 points on 9-of-20 shooting before fouling out in the overtime session. Patrick Anderson put up 20 in the loss, knocking down half of his 12 shots, while Michael Milligan also reached double-figures with 11 points.

The Panthers failed to get anything going from behind the three point arc, making just 5-of-21 shots, for a 23.8 three-point percentage. The Fighting Knights, on the other hand, were hot from long range, converting 15-of-28 attempts for a 53.6 percentage.

Marquan Botley led all scorers with 31 points, while Terrell Rogers and Darius James registered 22 and 15, respectively.

Florida Tech entered the halftime break facing a 10-point deficit after a cold shooting performance. The Panthers shot 37 percent from the floor, including 1-for-7 from deep. Majors and Anderson did their best to keep FIT in it, posting 20 of the Panthers' 34 points.

The second half didn't exactly get off to a banner start for the Panthers either, with Lynn building its lead to 58-41 at the 13:41 mark. However, FIT started to turn the tide midway through the period, going on a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to 63-56 with eight and a half minutes to go.

The Panthers caught fire again late, with a Majors layup with 1:17 on the clock concluding an 11-0 run that gave FIT its first lead since the 15:54 mark of the first half. The two sides traded baskets in the final minute of regulation to set up the overtime period.

Unfortunately for the Panthers, Botley would not be denied in overtime. The Florida Atlantic transfer drained three triples on the way to 11 points in the extra stanza as the Fighting Knights ran away from the Panthers to seize control.

Florida Tech travels across the state to Fort Myers Saturday for a 1 p.m. ET showdown with Division I opponent Florida Gulf Coast. The game will be streamed live on WatchESPN and the ESPN App, while Jim Mitchell will be on the call with audio available at FloridaTechSports.com/live.
