Panthers Ousted by Barry 3-1

Kelly Germain registered a career-high 18 kills against Barry

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (Volleyball) – The road woes continued for the Florida Tech volleyball team (2-9, 0-3 SSC) as the Panthers fell 3-1 in their Sunshine State Conference road match at  Barry (8-3, 2-1 SSC) on Saturday in Miami Shores.
 
BU opened the contest by holding off FIT in the first set 25-23 and then cruising through the second set 25-14. The Panthers fought back in the third to win the set 27-25 and force a fourth game.
 
The teams went back-and-forth in the fourth stanza with the score getting to 11-10 in favor of BU. From there the Bucs turned it on and closed out the Panthers with a 14-8 run to win the set 25-18 and end the match.
 
Kelly Germain led FIT with a career-high 18 kills against the Bucs. Jenna Schaffer collected 11 kills and eight digs for the Panthers. Olivia Hersey also notched 11 kills in addition to six block assists. Samantha Reeves added five kills, on a team-best 0.333 hitting, and three total blocks.
 
Kiersten Rosa had an all-around effort for FIT, recording a match-high 35 assists to go along with 10 digs, four kills and three block assists. Becca Bower led all players with 29 digs.
 
Jaeda Allen paced the Bucs with 14 kills, four digs and four total blocks. Eva Raat added 11 kills and three block assists, while Kaitlin Drake contributed seven kills and six digs. Juliana Tirabassi and Jenny Trinidad initiated the BU offense with 23 and 19 assists, respectively. Kat Espinosa led her team with 15 digs.
