MELBOURNE, Fla. (Men's Lacrosse) - The good times keep on rolling for Florida Tech (6-4, 2-0 SSC) as the Panthers collected their fifth-straight victory, taking down Sunshine State Conference foe Florida Southern (6-5, 1-1 SSC) 19-8 Saturday night at Panther Stadium. FIT pulled away from the Moccasins in the second half thanks to a dominant performance that saw the Crimson & Gray outscore their opponent 11-3 over the final two quarters.

Nick Wynne and Logan Sweeney led the melee with five goals apiece in the win. Carson Clough impressed with two goals and four assists, while Brett Pohlmeyer chipped in a pair of goals. Matt Weinstein ended with a goal and one assist.

Tom Filipow guided the Panthers defensively with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Daniel Flock (6-4) earned the victory, registering 15 saves to go along with three ground balls and a caused turnover.

Florida Tech finished with a narrow edge in shots, 39-38, and ground balls, 22-20. The Panthers also controlled the face-offs in the game, winning 18-of-31 draws.

FIT opened the scoring on goals by Sweeney and Wynne to take a 3-0 lead with 5:10 remaining in the first quarter. Unassisted efforts by FSC's Adam Utter and Liam Winwood decreased the Panthers' edge to one heading into the second quarter.

The attack line of Clough, Wynne and Cody Martin scored three of the first four goals of the second stanza to push FIT's lead to 6-3 with 11:18 left in the first half. Tyler Kopen's man-up goal cut FSC's deficit to 6-4 but the Panthers responded with four of the next six scores to take a 9-5 lead at halftime.

Florida Tech outscored the Mocs 7-1 in the third quarter, including three goals by Sweeney, and increased its advantage to 12-6. Consecutive goals by the Panthers to start the fourth quarter gave them a 14-6 edge with 11:26 remaining.

FIT netted five more goals in the final frame, while allowing just two, and capped the scoring with Wynne's team-leading 27th goal of the year as the Panthers improved to 2-0 in league play.
