FORT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Baseball) - The Panthers (28-19, SSC 12-9) ended the conference series with fireworks, as they rolled past No.18 Nova Southeastern, 21-5 on Monday evening at the NSU Baseball Complex. The FIT firepower was untamable throughout the entire contest, as the Crimson and Gray maintained a dominating distance against the Sharks during Game 3.Â
Under the Monday night lights, the Panthers accumulated an overwhelming 23 total hits to produce 21 runs from seven doubles, one triple, and three home runs. Leading the Panthers offense,
Ryan Sinzenich ended the night with an outstanding 4-for-5 performance with five RBI, while
Trent Masih followed going 4-for-6 with three RBI. On the mound,
Tyler Deel took home his fifth seasonal win, as the senior out of Jacksonville struck out three and walked one in five innings pitched.
In the bottom of the first, Neal opened up the frame with a single to left field, followed by triple from
John Sternagel that pushed home the first Panther run. With a  runner in scoring position, Spzik stepped up to clean the bases and close the frame in overwhelming fashion, as the Canadian outfielder blasted a two-run bomb to right field to place the Panthers ahead, 4-0.
Answering back in the home half, Nova placed themselves on the scoreboard with one run. After the second and third innings yielded no score, the Panthers stormed into a frenzy in the fourth to claw four more runs. After snatching a first run on a troubled play by the Sharks, Masih and Sternagel joined forces to drive in three more runners to increase the FIT stretch, 8-1.
Not finished yet, the 2016 NCAA DII Champs fought back in the bottom half of the fourth and closed the gap by three, 8-5. This was the last frame were the Sharks were able to push in runners, as the Crimson and Gray line up remained unfazed for the remainder of the game.
After taking home one run in the fifth, the Panthers burst in the seventh with
Vincenzo Catanza's two-RBI double. Continuing the streak in the eighth, Sinzenich brought in an addition three more runs on a double that was proceeded by an RBI single from
Trent Masih.
Outrunning Nova by 11 in the ninth, the Florida Tech bats held relentless as the Panthers lineup slashed the NSU pitching staff with five more runs. The inning began with a solo-homer to right center by Neal, followed by an RBI single to left field from Sinzenich. Closing out the offensive,
Erik Molina tacked a three-run dinger to left field to fasten the Panthers lead, 21-5.
Sealing his 26 seasonal win,
Drew Beyer and the Panthers defense edged the NSU lineup, allowing Florida Tech to head home with the victory.Â
Next, the Panthers hit the road to St. Petersburg to complete the regular season against the Eckerd Tritons. The SSC series starts on Friday, May 12 at 6 p.m. ET. Fans can access live coverage of the event at FloridaTechSports.com!
