MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Men's Soccer) – No. 20 Florida Tech (2-1) men's soccer was handed its first loss of the season Saturday afternoon, falling 2-1 in a neutral site, south region showdown against Alabama Huntsville (1-2) at AUM Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Alabama.
FIT finished with more shots (16-8) and corner kicks (9-10), but the Panthers only put four shots on goal in the contest.
Brandon Smalley scored the Panthers' lone goal of the game and finished with two shots, both on goal.
Evan Enders led Florida Tech with five shots, while
Jan Hlavica recorded three shots.
Christopher Page (1-1) made four saves and allowed two goals in his second start of the season for the Crimson and Gray.
The Chargers got the scoring started just before halftime, at 42:00, when Corentin Diverres found Khalil Bell wide open on a breakaway. Bell collected the pass and chipped it past Page for the opening goal.
Smalley tied the game up at 1-1 at the 67:32 mark, as he dribbled through the UAH defense and deposited the ball into the left corner. It was the sophomore's third score of the season.
UAH scored the game-winner later in the second half when Erik Sandnes collected a rebound in front of the Panther net and fired it past Page at 74:27.
