Panthers Drop Spartans 2-1 on the Road

TAMPA, Fla. – Florida Tech women's soccer headed across the state on Saturday, Oct. 20, for another SSC showdown. This time the Panthers spoiled the Spartans senior night as they grabbed the three points to the tune of 2-1.

The first half was a back and forth affair in which both teams were vying for the leg up. Tampa gained that advantage first as Libby Wissman (2) found the back of the net in the 41st minute.

Florida Tech struck back in the second half as senior Keira McCarthy (9) beat the Spartans defense and even it up at one apiece. The Panthers took the 2-1 lead about 18 minutes later when a penalty in the box set up an easy penalty kick for Maria Munoz. The team would ride this lead out to their eighth win of the season.

The Panthers will close out their regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 23, when they travel to Winter Park, Florida to take on Rollins. First kick for this showdown is set for 7 pm ET.
