Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Panthers Downed by Tars in Regular Season Finale

WINTER PARK, Fla. - Florida Tech women's soccer (8-8-1, 5-5-0 SSC) fell to Rollins (7-2-5, 5-2-2 SSC), 2-0, in the their final regular season match of the year. This loss pushed the women to the sixth seed in the upcoming Sunshine State Conference tournament.

The game started off fast as both teams attacks were firing on all cylinders as they traded shot after shot was traded for the first 20 minutes of play. Rollins would take their first and only four shots of the half in nine minutes then the momentum shifted to the Panthers.

Florida Tech mimicked the Tars as they put four balls toward the goal in the following nine minutes of action.

However, the defenses finally started to tighten up and limit the chances as Florida Tech only had four more attempts in the half while Rollins had none.

The second half had an eerily similar start as the first with Rollins dictated play off the whistle before Florida Tech took control and found their own attacking mentality.

Unfortunately, a brief two minute stint was all it took for the Tars to gain the upper hand in the match as they netted their first goal of the night in the 63rd minute. They followed that up in the very next minute with a penalty kick goal that give them the 2-0 win.

But this lose will not stop the Panthers as they will take the next six days to rest, recuperate and plan for their rematch with Rollins. The opening round match is set for Monday, Oct. 29, and will take place in Winter Park, Florida.
