Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Florida Tech Falls in Game One of DII Coast to Coast Classic

ANCHORAGE, AK. – After traveling across the country, Florida Tech women's basketball opened its slate of weekend games with No. 6 University of Alaska – Anchorage.  It was a close game that saw both teams hold the led for a significant portion of the game. But a late-game surge by the Seawolves downed the Panthers 66-56.

Virginia native Gracie Doane (15) topped the point's column for the Panthers, while Kailyn Ebb and Tereza Sedlakova tied for the lead in boards at seven. Cheyenne Scott dished out a team-high five assists.

The first quarter saw both teams put up points but it was UAA that came out on top as they started off the quarter hot and that helped put them up 21-15 over Florida Tech.

But the break between quarter one and two lit a fire in the Crimson and Gray as they shut down the Seawolves almost the entire second quarter. This led to a 16-2 run that gave the Panthers a 31-25 advantage with 2:29 left in the half.

But Alaska – Anchorage turned its shooting woes around and put together a run of its own to end the half with a one-point lead.

The third quarter was much like the second with Florida Tech in control for much of the period as they paced the Seawolves 15-10. This gave them a 46-42 led with only 10 minutes left in regulation.

The final period saw the action go back and forth until a 12-3 run by UAA put Tech behind 62-54 with only a minute left on the clock.

The Panthers will look to put themselves back in the win column tomorrow when they take on Simon Fraser. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. ET.
