Panthers Routed by Moccasins on the Road

Sam Daniel records sixth double-double of season as Florida Tech falls to Florida Southern 101-71 on Saturday

LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Tech (11-13, 6-10 SSC) struggled on the road against Florida Southern (16-9, 10-7 SSC) Saturday evening, falling to the Moccasins, 101-71, in Sunshine State Conference action at Jenkins Field House. 
 
Sam Daniel led four Panthers in double figures, finishing with his sixth double-double of the season on 22 points and 10 rebounds. Patrick Anderson recorded 17 points, five steals and four assists and Jordan Majors added 17 points and four boards. Michael Milligan notched 10 points and six rebounds.
 
The Panthers made just 24-for-74 (.324) from the field and 9-for-39 (.231) from three-point range. On the other hand, FSC made 36-for-55 (.655) of its shot attempts and 10-for-17 (.588) from beyond the arc.
 
The Mocs finished with more rebounds, 44-40, and assists, 21-12. Both teams turned the ball over 25 times in the game.
 
FSC led the entire game and jumped out to an 8-0 lead less than three minutes into the contest. The Mocs' advantage hit 25-7 with 10:30 to go in the first half. The margin continued to grow from there and FSC took a 30-point lead, 50-20, into halftime.
 
The Panthers opened the second half on a 31-17 run and cut their deficit to 16 points with 9:16 remaining. However, the home team regained its first half momentum and built its advantage back to 30 points before the final buzzer.
 
Florida Tech returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 14, hosting rival Barry in Sunshine State Conference action at the Clemente Center. Tipoff for the matchup is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
