On the day, Sinzenich tallied two RBI for his is first home run of the season, while Buser drove in one run on a solo homer. With today's home run, Buser earned the third spot in the SSC, as the Staten Island native counts a .357 batting average and a .714 slugging percentage.
As a team, the Panthers collected eight hits and four runs for a cumulative .234 batting average.
The Saints started off the game with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to take the lead, 2-0. After leaving the Panthers scoreless in the second, Flagler struck again with three more points in the bottom of the second to make it a 5-0 game.Â
The Panthers struggled again in the top of the third, while the St. Augustine lineup found the scoreboard to post an additional run in its offensive half to increase the lead, 6-0.
In the top of the fourth, Buser carried the Crimson and Gray rally, as the junior flared a shot behind the right field fence to snatch one run and decrease the gap, 6-1. Following, sophomore Rodnie Bernard contributed with a sac-fly to right field to shorten the Panthers deficit by four. However, the Flagler offense kept rolling and eventually drove in three more runs in the bottom of the inning to move past Florida Tech, 9-2.
After three blank frames for both dugouts, Sinzenich stepped to the plate in the top of the eighth with two outs and blasted a two-run bomb to bring FIT within five.
For the remainder of the game, Florida Tech struggled to push its runners home and eventually fell to the Saints, 9-4.
Next, the Panthers return to Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field for their home opener against Drury. The two-day series will start on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 12 p.m. ET.
