A moment later, FIT was able to force a cross-check penalty on the Seahawks' Channing Thomas and the Panthers earned their first man-up try of the game, and capitalized on the opportunity. Thirty seconds into the man advantage, Covey found Logan Sweeney at the top of the box for a howitzer of a shot to put FIT ahead 3-2.

The goal was the beginning of a 6-0 spurt that gave the Panthers an 8-2 edge with 5:07 left in the first half.

Marentette's man-up goal with just over two minutes left in the half cut the margin to five. However, Pohlmeyer and Abramson scored in the final 1:18 of the half, the latter coming with one second left on the clock, to give FIT a 10-3 advantage after two quarters.

Chaconas scored his third of the game early in the second half to increase FIT's lead to 11-3.
