Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Panthers Net First Victory of Season

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Florida Tech impressed in its return to the pitch as the team earned its first victory of the season, 1-0 over the Lee Flames.

The Panthers dominated in the attacking third as they accrued 11 shots to Lee's five. Leading the charge was Luca Campanini with five shots, two on goal, and the sole goal of the game.

Defensively for the Crimson and Gray, Aymerick Berald-Catelo anchored the team as he collected three clutch saves in the second half to ensure his first clean sheet of the season.

The match started off fast for Florida Tech with the men registering two shots, one on goal, in the first 10 minutes. Lee took their first chance in the 12th minute but this marked the last chance for either team till the 42nd minute when Campanini was blocked. Both teams unsuccessfully fire one more at the net before heading into the half.

The second half saw the fanatic pace of the final minutes continue as Dawan Eguez tallied the first shot only four minutes and 25 seconds after the whistle. Both teams made another attempt at goal before Campanini would break the stalemate, in the 59th minute, with the help of Paris Junior Roserie.

The elation of the Panthers goal quickly changed as they were forced to play the final 30 minutes with only 10 men due to the sending off of Robbie Madden.

However, the Crimson and Gray banded together to control the final third of the match as they limited the Flames to only two more shots, both of which were corralled by Berald-Catelo.

Florida Tech will look to keep the momentum going as they hit the road for a Sept. 1 showdown with Auburn University at Montgomery. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the AUM Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Alabama.
