Panthers Take Down Sharks in Three

Melbourne Fla. (Volleyball) - On Friday night, Florida Tech (4-7 SSC 1-2) kick started their first home opener match of the season by defeating Nova Southeastern in three straight sets (25-21, 25-23, 26-24). In the last two sets the Panthers rallied hard to pull out a win against the Sharks.

Florida Tech was well balanced offensively all night recording a total of 39 on 125 attempts topping Nova. Offensively, the Panthers were able to recorded a total of 37 assists, 64 digs and seven blocks to hold the Sharks to a hitting percentage of .122.

Senior Becca Bower collected a season high six kills on 15 attempts for a hitting percentage of .333. Also, senior Olivia Hersey led the team with 10 kills on 27 attempts for a hitting percentage of .259 to move up 12th in the Sunshine State Conference standings for hitting percentage.

Senior Kyra Atkinson, had a total of 10 digs in the match increasing her total number up to 168 digs for the season and seventh in the SSC rankings. Senior Kiersten Rosa tallied a total of six kills, 26 assists and five digs to help the Panthers earn their first conference win of the season. 

Next up, the Crimson and Gray will be back on the court Sep. 15 against Palm Beach Atlantic in Melbourne, Fla. The match is set for 4:00 p.m. ET.
