Tampa, Fla. (Volleyball) – After a hard fight with the Spartans the Panthers were unable to earn the victory in their first Sunshine State Conference match on Friday night. Florida Tech (3-6, SSC 0-1) came up short against the Tampa Spartans (8-1, SSC 1-0) in three sets to one.
After gaining momentum in the first set defeating the Spartans 26-24, the Panthers were unable to continue its performance. Florida Tech recorded a combine 38 kills, 37 assists and 54 digs in four sets of play.
Defensively, senior
Kiersten Rosa recorded a total of 33 assists and five digs and senior
Kyra Atkinson had a total of 19 digs in the match.
Leading the Panthers offensively, was senior
Heather Bowersox with 12 kills on 29 attempts for a hitting percentage of .207. Also, Senior
Olivia Hersey recorded 12 kills, on 29 attempts for a hitting percentage of .240 and seven blocks throughout the match.
Next up, the Crimson and Gray will be back on the court Sep. 8 against Rollins College at Winter Park, Fla. The match is set for 4:00 p.m. ET.
