WINTER PARK, Fla. – Florida Tech women's basketball (6-12, 2-8 SSC) suffered another close defeat as they fell to Rollins (9-7, 6-4 SSC). The final score of the contest was 54-58.
The Panthers were led by the duo of
Tereza Sedlakova (18/7/1) and
Aniquah Swan (10/10/1). This was Swan's second double-double of the season, the first was against Claflin.
The first quarter showcased defensive basketball as neither offense could get going and this showed in the score at the end was 9-9.
However, the second quarter was a huge for Tech as they found their stroke while the shutdown of the Tars continued. At the half, the Panthers were ahead 26-14.
The third saw the roles reverse as it seemed as if Florida Tech had a lid on the rim while EC could not miss. This led to a double-digit advantage for the quarter and a 34-41 advantage on the scoreboard.
The Panthers fought hard and managed to tie it up at 49-49 with 2:49 left on the clock. But this did not last as a late 6-0 run by Tars put it out of reach. At the buzzer, the women fell 54-58.
The team will look to avenge its loss Saturday, Jan. 26, when they head to Eckerd for a 2 p.m. ET tip.
