LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Tech women's soccer has snapped their five-match losing streak as they tied the Florida Southern Mocs, 1-1.
 
Monica Zabian was the Panther goal scorer as she buried her first since 2017. Mariana Mazzocca was the only member of the team to register multiple shots on the contest with two.
 
Maria Sanchez Recuero put in an excellent performance as she recorded five saves compared to one goal allowed.
 
Florida Tech came out strong as the team found the back of the net at the 35-minute mark. Following the goal, a brief intermission had to be taken to escort a canine off the pitch as it ran on during the goal sequence. The rest of the first half was slightly less eventful and the score held at 1-0 as the horn went off.
 
A second-half momentum swing occurred in which the Mocs were the aggressor and outshoot the Panthers, 7-4. One of Florida Southern's shots beat Sanchez Recuero and tied it up at 1-1. Despite other chances this score held till the end of regulation.
 
The Crimson and Gray then went into overtime with the Mocs and a similar pattern took place as it did in the second half but this time no goals were conceded during the two 10 minute periods and the final score held at 1-1.
 
Florida Tech will be back on the road Saturday, Oct. 19, as they head to Saint Leo for their 7 p.m. match at Saint Leo Soccer Field.
