WINTER PARK, Fla. – No. 6 men's soccer had a big task ahead of them as they went to arguably the toughest place to play in the Sunshine State Conference in Cahall Sandspur Field. Sadly the men's unbeaten streak came to an end as they fell 2-1 in overtime.
Guillermo Segovia was the Panthers only goal scorer of the night. While
Luca Campanini (3) and
Hugo Lopez (2) were the only players that tallied multiple shots on the match.
The Crimson and Gray came out in dominant fashion as they kept the ball in their attacking third for a majority of the first 45 minutes and this showed in the 7-3 shot totals and 4-0 shots on goal. However, this did not translate to goals as the game was 0-0 as the teams went into the locker room.
The second half continued as the first half ended with the Panthers in control and the team struck first as
Craig McCall set up Segovia about nine minutes after the whistle. But a Tars' late-game surge was sparked by their 75
th-minute goal. This momentum carried through the final 15 minutes and into overtime as they again found the back of the net in the 98
th minute to win 2-1 by golden goal.
Florida Tech will look to get back to its winning ways Wednesday, Oct. 30, as the team welcomes Palm Beach Atlantic to Melbourne, Florida, for a 7 p.m. ET match.
