BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Tech men's soccer took the pitch of Bobby Campbell Stadium on the campus of Lynn University in hopes of keeping their National Championship hopes alive. Unfortunately, Lynn dashed the Panthers' hopes as they fell, 1-2.
 
Erlend Eikeland was the sole goal scorer for Tech, while credit for the assists went to Craig McCall and Brandon Smalley.
 
The Crimson & Gray got out to a terrific start as Eikeland found the back of the net less than three minutes into the match. A well-executed set piece led to the goal as Craig McCall flicked it to Brandon Smalley and he sent a beautiful cross into the box, which subsequently found the back of the net.
 
"Obviously we got off to a very good start," said head coach Robin Chan. "Getting our noses in front. Those are key moments in a game."
 
However, Lynn evened it up at the 20-minute mark and then took the 1-2 lead with about five minutes left in the half.
 
"We got a great start and really should have pushed on and we didn't," said McCall.
 
The second half was a defensive skirmish as neither team saw much success in their respective attacking thirds. This meant that at the final whistle the score held at 1-2 and signaled the end to Florida Tech's season.
 
"We came out stronger in the second half. But, unfortunately, could not convert some quality chances," said Chan. McCall followed that with "we came out in the second half and we always believed we could get back into it. We believe you keep going til the final whistle."
 
When asked about next season coach Chan stated "even though we graduate so many we do feel like we have some really good quality pieces to build around," while, McCall said "it's (the program) is in good hands."
