TAMPA, Fla. – Florida Tech women's basketball suffered another road loss this time to the Spartans of Tampa. At the final buzzer, the score was 65-52.
Freshman
November Morton paced the Panthers scoring as she was the only one to hit double digits with 11 points.
Tereza Sedlakova and
Fanny Hakanson both grabbed a team high four rebounds while
Cheyenne Scott dished out three assists.
The first quarter saw the two teams go basket-for-basket as neither could make it more than a one score game for the first 7:53 of the game when Tampa put in its second straight layup to make it 14-10. However, a layup by Hakanson pushed the score to 14-12 to end the quarter.
The second quarter had an eerily similar feel to it as the first quarter as both teams struggled to set itself apart from the other. But Florida Tech did have the advantage in the quarter and this propelled them to a 32-30 lead as the team headed to the locker room.
The second half was not as kind to the Crimson and Gray as struggles on the offences end cost them down the stretch as Tampa began to heat up. This lead to two consecutive quarters in which Tech was out score (13-8 in the third and 22-12 in the fourth.)
Florida Tech will look to get back on the right track Wednesday, Feb. 13, when they welcome Saint Leo to Melbourne, Florida. Tipoff for the game is set for 5:30 p.m. ET and will be followed by the men's game.
