MELBOURNE, Fla. - Florida Tech (13-7) picked up a nice non-conference win Tuesday as the Panthers defeated Winona State, 8-2, to extend their winning streak to eight games. Â
Rhett Willis started the game for the Panthers. The right hander pitched four innings giving up only three hits and a run scored. The senior also recorded two strikeouts in the Panther victory. Willis was able to keep Florida Tech in the game for
Justin Lorenz, who was the winning pitcher of the game. The freshman pitched two innings and gave up only one hit to earn his second win of the season. Â
Offensively, the Panthers' bats came alive as they recorded 17 hits on 39 at-bats for a team batting average of .436.
Pedro Rivera recorded three hits in four at bats with an RBI and a run scored.Â
Jacob Buser continues to hit very well as he went 3-for-5 with three RBI's and two runs.Â
Jakob Newton went 3-for-5 with two RBI's in the Panther victory.Â
The Crimson and Gray will be back Friday, March 15 as they battle Nova Southeastern in the first game of their SSC weekend series in Fort Lauderdale. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the NSU Baseball Complex.Â
