MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Florida Tech women's soccer looked to finish off its four game road stretch with a win over the Montevallo Falcons. It was a tightly contested match but unfortunately, the women were on the wrong end of the 2-1 scoreline.
Senior
Maria Munoz continued her ascend up Florida Tech's record books as she scored her fourth goal of the season and 20
th of her career. This put her into a tie for fourth with former Panther great
Aubri Williamson.
Miranda Choplin grabbed her second start of the season and the sophomore put together a great performance as she stopped 9 shots and allowed only two goals.
The first half of the match was a defensive showdown that saw many shots but none reached the back of the goal. However, the second half was the opposite as both teams bested the keepers.
The Panthers struck first as Munoz slotted one to the left side of the net off a pass from
Monica Zabian in the 58
th minute. The Falcons struck back about 15 minutes later with a goal to the lower-left portion of the net also and then scored the game winner two minutes later. This ended the scoring as the final 15 minutes of action went back to a similar feel as the first half.
Florida Tech heads back home to open Sunshine Conference play, Wednesday, Sept. 25, against Embry-Riddle. This match is set to start at 7 p.m. ET and will be played at Rick Stottler Field.
