St. Petersburg, Fla. - Florida Tech volleyball faced Sunshine State Conference opponent Eckerd College.
The Panthers collected 24 kills, 20 assists, and 39 digs in three sets of play. Unfortunately, Tech was not able to take down the Tritons.
First Set
After a back and forth start, the Panthers went on a four point run to take a 9-6 lead over the Tritons. However, the Panthers were not able to distance themselves and Eckerd was able to tie the match at 14 points apiece. The Panthers were able to tie the game once more before the Tritons went on a six point run to end the set.
Second Set
The Panthers fell behind early following a 8-2 point run by the Tritons making it a 15-5 score. Tech was not able to close the gap for the entirety of the match and fell 25-14.
Third Set
Florida Tech was not able to maintain Eckerd attackers as they collected 10 kills. The Panthers were able to go on a 4-1 point run but it was not enough as they fell 25-12.
Individual Players
Kyra Atkinson and
Sheila Villagrasa where the top defensive players. Atkinson continues to add to her career digs as she collected 14 during today's match. Villagrasa tallied 16 assists and collected three kills.
Katrina Hand and
Christina Mayberry registered four kills apiece for the Panthers.
Up Next
The Crimson and Gray will drive over to Lakeland tomorrow to face the Mocs. The match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
