Tech Drops Two at Wingate Tournament

WINGATE, N.C. - Florida Tech baseball head to Wingate, North Carolina to participate in a tournament hosted by the Bulldogs. 

Florida Tech played two games on Friday afternoon against Valdosta State and Palm Beach Atlantic. The Panthers faced the Blazers in the first game of the day in which they were defeated 10-4. Tech dropped the second game 12-2 against PBA in game two. 

In the first game, the Crimson and Gray recorded eight hits, four RBI's, and a home run. 

Brett Parrish had a great game for the Panthers recording two hits in four at-bats. The sophomore collected two RBIs and scored a run for the Panthers. 

Brendan Riley continues to swing the bat well for the Panthers, going 1-for-3 with two RBI's. Raul Quintero also recorded a pair of hits against the Blazers.

Boris Villa Barros made his first start as a Panther pitching 3.2 innings allowing three hits, two runs, and six strikeouts. 

In-game two, PBA came out swinging the bats well as they scored nine runs in the first four innings. The Panthers were not able to have consistent at-bats as they scored just two runs in nine innings of play. 

Tech only runs came in the 9th inning by Josh Ford who connected a two-RBI single to left field scoring Tyler Brown and Gabriel Ferrer

Jakob Newton went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in game two. 

Next

The Crimson and Gray will go back at it tomorrow against Wingate at Ron Christopher Stadium & Plyler Field. The game is scheduled for a noon first pitch.
