Schumacher Shuts Down Malone for a 15-0 Victory

Tyler Brown recorded four RBI's in today's win

WINTER PARK, FLA. - Florida Tech baseball headed to Winter Park to be apart of the 72nd Annual Baseball Week at Rollins College. Tech played a neutral site game against Malone in which the Panthers dominated 15-0.  

The Crimson and Gray collected 15 hits, 15 runs, 15 RBI's, and walked four times against the Pioneers. 

Preston Schumacher coming off an impressive performance of Kentucky Wesleyan went eight scoreless innings allowing just four hits. The sophomore registered seven strikeouts and had just one walk in 95 pitches. This is Schumacher's first win of the season to improve his record to 1-1.  

Jordan Murray came in the night inning to put the Pioneers away. Murray had two groundouts to him to record the first two outs and ended the game with a fly ball to left field. 

The Panthers took an early 5-0 lead against the Pioneers in the first inning. Later in the third, Tech collected two more to make it a 7-0 ball game. In the seventh and eighth inning, Tech combined for eight runs to put Malone away and snap the five-game losing streak. 

Offensively, Blaise Maris had a great day at the plate recording three hits in four at-bats. The senior scored two runs and added two RBIs to his credit. With today's performance, Blaise extends his hitting streak to four games. 

Tyler Brown seems to found his swing has he added four RBI's in today's victory against Malone. Brown went 2-for-5 scoring two runs, four RBI's, and a double. With this performance, Brown extends his hitting streak to five games. 

The freshman, Josh Ford, had a day for the Panthers collecting three RBI's on the day. Ford went 2-for-3 with a run scored, three RBI's, two doubles, and a walk. Ford has seven RBI's on the season and improves his batting average to .333. 

Jakob Newton recorded his second home run of the season and improve his hitting streak to four games. The junior recorded two RBIs and is now tied for second on the team (11 RBI's). Newton also scored two runs and collected a walk in today's win. 

Alec Eldridge was the second Panther to collect three RBI's in the game Eldrige did it with a 2-for-4 performance adding two doubles to his credit. Eldrige is now second in the doubles category for the Panthers.

The Crimson and Gray hope to have the offensive and pitching performance tomorrow as the host Minnesota Mankato at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. EST.
