STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • It was a scoreless draw in the first half. Tritons went into halftime with a 4-3 edge in shots and 2-1 advantage in corner kicks. Panthers were called offsides three times in the first half.
  • Eckerd continued to lead in offensive opportunities at the end of the second half as the Tritons had an edge in shots, 10-7, and shots on goal, 6-4.
  • Panthers finally broke through in the 93rd minute as Marem Ndiongue collected the ball in the box and fired off a shot toward the net. Her attempt was stopped by the Tritons goalkeeper, but Allyn Jaime was there to knock in the rebound for the game-winning goal. Ndiongue was credited with the assist.

  • Maria Sanchez Recuero tied a season-high with six saves while Eckerd's Cadence Talbert had four saves.

COACHES CORNER:
"Tonight was a real tight SSC game - one that you'd expect in this conference," said head coach Ryan Moon. "Eckerd was effective in how they played, and we had to adjust to a different type of game than we are used to. We wanted to focus solely on our performance tonight and we ticked the boxes we were missing last game. We defended very well as a team today, but our defense and goalkeeper were especially resilient. We are happy with a clean sheet and three points on the road but as always, the next game comes fast and we're excited to be back at home this Saturday."

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Florida Tech improves to 12-5-2 all-time versus Eckerd. It's the Panthers first win in the series since Sept. 23, 2017, and their first win in St. Petersburg since the 2010 season.
  • Panthers have a 3-2-2 record in games decided by one goal or less this season and are 1-1-2 in overtime games.
  • Allyn Jaime's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
  • This marks the fourth time this season that Tech has held an opponent scoreless. Panthers have allowed just five goals in eight games this season.

UP NEXT: Florida Tech returns to Rick Stottler Field on Saturday, Oct. 9, hosting Florida Southern in SSC action. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
