STATS OF THE MATCH: 
  • FSC controlled the offensive momentum during the first half, and had a 4-0 edge in shots during the first 37 minutes of the game
  • Alexis Sheely fired off the Panthers' only shot attempt in the first half with 7:15 to go before halftime
  • Tech had a chance to take the lead early in the second half on a penalty kick by Alyssa Bartle in the 59th minute. She tried to fit it into the left side of the net, but it was saved by FSC goalkeeper Jenny Staten. 
  • The Panthers were on the offensive half for much of the second half and outshot the Mocs 7-3 and had an 8-3 edge in corner kicks. 
  • Tech finished with an edge in shots (12-7), shots on goal (7-2) and corner kicks (12-4). 
  • The teams combined for 5 yellow cards and 27 fouls in the game. Florida Tech had 3 of the yellow cards. 
  • Maria Sanchez Recuero made 2 saves in the game while Staten had 7 saves.
     
COACHES CORNER:
"We will take a lot of positives from tonight and some good lessons," said head coach Ryan Moon. "We are looking to build each week and learn, and I think we did that. We felt like we did enough to win the game but unfortunately sometimes that's not enough. Another clean sheet is always nice to see, and we created some good chances tonight, but we'll be looking to execute those chances more moving forward."

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Florida Tech moves to 13-7-5 all-time against Florida Southern. 
  • Sanchez Recuero earned her 5th clean sheet of the season and the 10th of her career. 
  • Panthers have a 3-2-3 record in games decided by one goal or less this season and are 1-1-3 in overtime games.
