FIRST HALF:
- Tech came out quick going on a 12-4 run in the first four minutes.
- Flagler cut the lead to four with two consecutive layups with 3:51 to go in the first quarter.
- Panthers outscored the Saints 5-3 to close out the quarter and take a 17-11 advantage.
- A Flagler three and a made jumper to open the second quarter cut their deficit to one, 8:18 to go.
- Saints took their first lead of the game, 20-19, off a defensive rebound and fast break layup by Tori Pearce.
- Teams exchanged baskets the rest of the way with Fanny Paulin sinking a three assisted by Hannah Roney to take the 32-30 advantage into halftime.
SECOND HALF:
- Saints once again tied it up in the opening minute of the second half off a Pearce steal and fast break layup.
- A made jumper by Flagler gave them the lead, 37-35, and they didn't look back.
- Saints went on a 7-3 run to close out the third quarter leading 53-44.
- Panthers entered the fourth quarter looking to close the gap going on a 3-0 run. Jumpers by Makyla Daniels and Paulin and two consecutive Lina Stranger-Johannessen three's cut the deficit to one, 7:55 to go.
- Saints turned around and scored eight unanswered points to build some comfort, 63-54, 2:30 remaining.
- Aiming to stop the clock, Tech fouled five times to go into bonus. Six more Panther fouls and 13 made free throws for the Saints would end the game, 76-63.
COACHES CORNER:
"Overall, we have to do a better job of playing in the second half," said Reynolds. "We struggle in the second half. Today we had way too many unforced turnovers, we got lazy and soft with our passes. You can't be a good basketball team and win having that many turnovers. However, I did think Kiki (Daniels) played much better today and Lina (Stranger-Johannessen) was able to find the rim and make some important shots for us."
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Roney led the Crimson & Gray with 17 points on 5-8 shooting (5-6 from the three) and three rebounds.
- Paulin racked up 14 points, six rebounds, three assists, and one steal
- Stranger-Johannessen added eight points on 2-5 from beyond the arc and went 2-2 on free throws.
- Severine Uggen added seven points and six defensive rebounds
- Aiste Vaitekunaite tallied six points, five rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Panthers shot 34.3% (12-35) in the first half including 38.5% (5-13) from three while making 75% (3-4) on free throws. Saints closed the first half at 36.1% (13-36) shooting and made 25% (2-8) from three and 2-3 at the charity stripe.
- Flagler improved its shooting in the second half, making 55.2% (16-29) from the field including 25% (1-4) from three and 100% (13-13) at the free throw line.
- The Saints played better defensively as well, holding the Panthers to 36.7% (11-30) shooting, 40% (6-15) beyond the arc and 3-4 at the line.
- Tech finished with a 41-40 advantage in rebounding including a 12-8 edge on the offensive glass.
- Flagler had an advantage in points in the paint (40-18), fast break points (20-8), points off turnovers (23-14) while Panthers lead in bench points (16-8).
