FIRST HALF:
- Tech took the lead early on with back-to-back three's by Fanny Paulin and Hannah Roney. Panthers led 6-2 with 7:34 to go.
- Florida Southern didn't waste time tying it up, 8-8, off two made three's of their own.
- Another made three by the Mocs' pushed them ahead of the Panthers, 11-8.
- Moc's went on an 8-0 run while Panther's faced a scoring drought.
- Severine Uggen cut the drought with a deep three on the left side of the arc in the final minute of the quarter. Mocs' led 22-13 at the end of the first quarter.
- Team's swapped baskets for the first four possessions until the Mocs' went on a 7-0 scoring run pushing their lead 33-18 with 4:52 to go.
- Panthers record six free throws the next two minutes bringing the score to 36-24.
- Southern went on an 8-2 run to close out the half. Florida Southern led 44-26.
SECOND HALF:
- Aiming for the comeback, Panthers recorded two consecutive layups to open the quarter and cut the deficit, 44-28.
- Southern entered a scoring drought for three minutes, giving Tech the chance they needed. Panthers recorded nine unanswered points – baskets by Roney, Lina Stranger-Johannessen, Makyla Daniels, Dalma Ehmann.
- Mocs' cut their drought going on an 8-1 run, 1:33 to go in the third. Two Panther free throws and a Mocs' three ended the half. Mocs' led 65-44.
- Teams exchanged baskets beyond the arc for the first four possessions of the fourth quarter.
- Southern advanced their lead with 7 unanswered points, 78-50.
- Tech returned with 7 of their own unanswered points, 78-57, 3:12 remaining.
- A layup and free throw for the Mocs' followed by a three-pointer and a layup for Tech closed out the game. Mocs' earned the win, 81-62.
COACHES CORNER:
"Southern deserves a lot of credit," said Reynolds. "They did a great job of getting guys open and making their shots. We had a lack of communication and effort on defense tonight, it was disappointing. (Dalma) Ehmann was the highlight of our night. She got in there and played hard. Lina (Stranger-Johannessen) played a great basketball game. She guarded everyone she needed to and then some. Overall, we just didn't defend well as a team."
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Ehmann led the Crimson & Gray with career-high 12 points on 4-5 shooting – 4-6 from the charity stripe – and two rebounds.
- Roney tallied 11 points on 3-7 shooting – 3-6 from the three and 2-2 from the free throw line – six assists and three rebounds
- Stranger-Johannessen added 10 points, four assists, and two rebounds.
- Uggen recorded nine points, two steals, two assists, and three rebounds.
- Aiste Vaitekunaite finished the game with nine points on 3-4 shooting going 1-1 from the three and 2-2 on free throws. She also posted two boards and one block.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Florida Tech finished the game shooting 42.9% (21-49) from the field, 40% (10-15) from beyond the arc and 55.6% (10-18) from the line. Southern shot 50% (29-58) in the contest, including 48.3% (14-29) from three and 75% (9-12) from the charity stripe.
- Southern held the advantage in rebounds (35-26), points in the paint (26-22), second chance points (10-5), fast breaks (8-5), and points off the bench (40-27).
- Tech recorded fewer turnovers (15-13) and had the advantage in steals (8-6).
