Late Dry Spell Costly for Florida Tech Women

FIRST HALF: 
  • Tech took the early lead, 8-2, with back-to-back three-pointers by Severine Uggen and Hannah Roney.
  • Panthers went on a 12-2 run to close out the first quarter and advance the lead, 28-14.
  • Warriors answered back with a 6-0 run to open the second quarter, 28-19 with 8:46 to go.
  • Two more consecutive three's and a layup in the paint for the Panthers stretched the lead to 17, 5:45 remaining. Baskets by Uggen, Fanny Hakanson, and Dalma Ehmann.
  • Webber Int'l made four of their last five shots to close out the half. Panthers led 49-29 at the break.
SECOND HALF: 
  • Tech opened the second half with five unanswered points to stretch the lead to 15.
  • A 12-2 run by Warriors closed the gap, 59-54, to end the third period.
  • Jumper in the paint by the Warriors made it a one possession game, followed by a fast break layup to give them their first lead, 4:38 to go.
  • Panthers experienced a scoring drought, while Webber Int'l went on a 13-2 run to end the game.
 
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
  • Uggen led the Crimson & Gray with 26 points on 10-18 shooting and eight rebounds.
  • Roney tabbed 14 points, three assists, two rebounds and one block.
  • Aiste Vaitekunaite recorded 11 points, seven rebounds, and one block.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
 
  • Tech finished the game shooting 36.4% (24-66) from the field, 34.6% (9-26) from beyond the arc, and 81.3% (13-16) on free throws.
  • Warriors shot 50% (29-58) in the contest, including 23.1% (3-13) from the three-point range, and converted 61.5 (16-26) at the line.
  • Panthers won the rebounding battle (39-29) and had an edge (8-6) in second change points.
  • Webber Int'l ended with the advantage in points off turnovers (28-18), points in the paint (48-20), and bench points (32-20).
 
 
UP NEXT: Florida Tech returns to the Clemente Center Monday, Dec. 20 to host Edward Waters (Fla.). Tip-off is set for 12 p.m.
