Melbourne, Fla. - Florida Tech hosted Nova Southeastern to conclude the three-game series at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field. The Panthers swept the Sharks in today's doubleheader 4-3 and 2-1.
GAME 1
Florida Tech posted their second series win of the 2021 season with a 4-3 victory over Nova.
The Sharks jumped to a two-run lead with a two-RBI home run in the top of the first.
The Panthers quickly answer in the bottom of the third with a two-run RBI double by Blaise Maris to make it a 2-2 ball game.
Florida Tech scored one run in the fourth and the seventh inning both coming on wild pitches making it a 4-2 game.
Nova in the ninth came across to score to make it a 4-3 game, however, Blake Beyel was able to earn the save for the Panthers.
Raul Quintero went 2-for-3 with a walk and a hit by a pitch on the Panther win.
Maris was the only Panther to record a couple of RBI's and was a big factor for Tech's success.
GAME 2
Florida Tech completed the sweep against Nova with a 2-1 victory in a seven-inning ball game.
Florida Tech quickly took a 2-0 lead with a sacrifice fly by Paul Castillo and a Shark wild pitch scoring Alec Eldridge.
Nova recorded their first run of the game in the fourth with a fielder's choice to cut the Panthers lead to one.
On the mound, Justin Lorenz pitched well for Florida Tech pitching five innings, allowing a hit, a run, a walk, and five strikeouts on 52 pitches, 32 being strikes. Lorenz improves his record 2-0 with today's performance.
Daniel Vassallo came in at the top of the seventh and recorded three big outs for the Panthers stranding two runners on base. Vassallo came in the seventh shut down the Sharks line up to complete the three-game sweep. Vassallo now has two saves in the season with today's performance.
