TAMPA, Fla. – Florida Tech women's soccer headed across the state for its third Spring season match. The team did well throughout the contest against an evenly-matched Tampa team. However, the match ended in a 1-1 tie.
Alyssa Bartle was the Panthers' lone goal scorer via a penalty kick, while Maria Sanchez Recurio and
Alexandra Cabal combined for an impressive game in goal.
The two teams felt each other out for most of the first half as neither held control or threatened the goal more than a handful of times. However, Tampa did strike first with only a minute and a half remaining in the opening 45 that made it 1-0 at the first stoppage.
However, Tech was undeterred and managed to knot it back up at 1-1 in the 52
nd minute as Bartle powered one pass the keeper during her penalty kick. The women continued to dominate a majority of the half, but they did not beat the Spartans keeper for a second time and the game ended 1-1.
The Crimson & Gray will take a few days off before they are back on the pitch Friday, April 2, for a 6 p.m. ET match against Rollins.
