Boca Raton, Fla. - Florida Tech went on the road to face Lynn University after 359 days. Despite the Panthers' run support, the Fighting Knights defeated the 8-6 on Thursday evening at Lynn Baseball Stadium.
After Lynn took a 2-0 lead in the opening frame, Florida Tech responded with a couple of home runs but was not able to take the lead during the remainder of the game.
Raul Quintero was the clear star for the Panthers in today's game going 4-4 including a two-run home run. The senior recorded four runs, two runs batted in, and a walk on nine innings of play.
Tech started to make a comeback in the seventh when Jakob Newton hit a two-RBI home run over the right-field fence cutting Lynn's lead by three runs (8-5). Newton finished the day 1-for-4 with a run scored, two RBI's, and a walk.
The Panthers got another run back in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Paul Castillo making it an 8-6 game.
Boris Villa started the game for Florida Tech pitching 4.1 innings. Villa allowed three hits, five runs, four earned runs, five walks, three strikeouts, and two hits by pitches.
Andres Rodriguez contributed three innings allowing just two hits. The junior allowed three runs, a walk, and five strikeouts during his outing.
UP NEXT: Florida Tech will come back home to Melbourne, Fla. tomorrow for their home opener to finish the three-game series against Lynn.
