Florida Tech Defeats Rollins in Series Opener

Boris Villa delivers another excellent outing for Florida Tech

Winter Park, Fla. - Florida Tech baseball went on the road to Harper-Shepherd Field to face Rollins College for their series opener. The Panthers' offense came alive in the late innings of the ball game to take a 4-1 victory over the Tars.

The Crimson and Gray struck first in the top of the fourth inning with a home run by Paul Castillo to increase his hitting streak to four games. Castillo now leads the Panthers in the home run category and tie for second in RBI's.

The Tars tied the game up at one run apiece with an RBI single to center by Reidy.

In the 7th, Florida Tech Hayden Kimball recorded his first RBI as a Panther with a sacrifice fly to center to give them a 2-1 lead over Rollins.

Florida Tech came across to score two runs in the 8th due to a hit by pitch that got away from the Tars catcher to score Raul Quintero. The second run came with a bases-loaded walk RBI from Alec Eldridge to make it a 4-1 game.

Brett Parrish went 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI, increasing his hitting streak to four games, and Rodnie Bernard went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Boris Villa again had an impressive performance once again for Florida Tech. Villa pitched six innings allowing just four hits, one run, three walks, and five strikeouts to earn the victory and improve his record to 3-2 on the season.
