Panthers Win Streak Ends at Saint Leo

Florida Tech Drops to 4-3 in SSC Play

SAINT LEO, Fla. - Florida Tech continued SSC play with a road trip to Saint Leo looking for its fourth consecutive win. The Panthers could not keep their late season run going, falling 2-1 to the Lions.  
 

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF THE MATCH: 

  • Saint Leo came out firing as Alex Collighan scored less than a minute into the game with a right-footed shot.  
  • The Panthers outshot the Lions 9-3 in the first half. 
  • Saint Leo Goalkeeper, Maitane Bravo made five first half saves. 
  • May Queiroz scored the equalizer in the 52' for the Panthers off a Jessica Cravero assist. 
  • In the 66' the Lions scored the winning goal on a shot from Nina Mueller that found the bottom left side of the net.  
  • Tech had 10 corner kicks on the night while Sain Leo did not have any.  
  • Mueller for Saint Leo and Marem Ndiongue for Florida Tech each received a yellow card in the closing minutes of the match. 
  • Saint Leo fouled 14 times. The Panthers on the other hand committed just six fouls. 
  • Despite losing the match, Florida Tech outshot Saint Leo 17-6. 

   BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Florida Tech falls to 9-13-3 all time against Saint Leo.
  • Queiroz has scored in each of the last three games and is tied with Ndiongue for the team lead in goals this season with five.
  • Tech drops to 3-3-1 away from home this season.  
  • The Panthers remain in fourth place in the SSC standings with two regular season matches remaining.  

UP NEXT: The Panthers will be back in action with a home match against No. 3 Embry-Riddle on Tuesday Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
