No.6 Tampa Concludes Panthers Regular Season

Tampa, Fla. – The regular season concluded for the Florida Tech volleyball team with a loss to No. 6 Tampa on Sunday afternoon. The Spartans won the match by sweeping the Panthers in three straight sets.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • The first set started off with Tampa taking an early 13-3 lead over Tech.
  • The Panthers comeback attempt would see them come back to within six points of the No.6 Ranked Spartans to make it a 19-13 set.
  • Tampa would then go on to record six of the next eight points to close out the set 25-14 and go ahead 1-0 in the match.
  • Set two witnessed the Panthers attempt to turn the things around keeping the set close but still trailing the Spartans 5-4.
  • Tampa would then jump out to seven-point lead to make the score 14-7.
  • Tech would slowly chip away at Tampa's lead where two three-point runs helped the Panthers come back to within two-point to make the set 21-19 prior to a Tampa timeout.
  • As the Crimson and Grey trailed 23-21, Tampa finished the set by scoring two straight points to take the set 25-21 and go ahead in the match 2-0.
  • In set three, the Panthers gained their first lead of the match going ahead 2-1 and later 3-2 before Tampa regained the lead at 6-5.
  • Tech kept the set close, but still trailed 13-11.
  • As Tampa looked to pull ahead winning 19-13, the Panthers recorded seven of the next five points s to come back to within one, trailing 21-20.
  • The Spartans would eventually close out the set 25-21 and win the match 3-0.               
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • The Panthers are now 0-91 all-time against Tampa
  • Kenzie Delacher surpassed the 1,000 assists single season list, the ninth in program history to do so, and now holds the programs record for the most assists by a freshman with 1,009. She Finishes the regular seasons with the third most assists in the conference.
  • Kari Bogen ends the season with the most digs In the SSC having totaled 539 and also the sixth most in a sign-season by a Panther.
  • Katie Erdmann finishes the season ranked second In the conference in kills (459), kills per set (4.21), points (498.5) and points per set (4.57).
  • Erdmann also finishes the season with the fourth most kills (459) and attempts (1315) in a season.
WHAT'S AHEAD: The All-SSC teams will be announced this upcoming week by the conference office. The Panthers conclude their season after today's match against Tampa and will now turn to the offseason where they will start to prepare and look to make a run at the SSC Championship next season.
