Volleyball Honor's it's Two Senior Scholar-Athletes Prior to SSC Matchup with Nova Southeastern

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Nova Southeastern defeated the Florida Tech volleyball team 3-1 on Saturday evening. Prior to the match, the Panthers honored their two senior Victoria Bowrosen and Kayla Mastin for Senior Day.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • Florida Tech jumped out to an early 4-2, over the Sharks and later increased their lead to 8-5.
  • The Panthers lead for a majority of the of the set increasing their lead to 15-10 over Nova.
  • With Tech ahead 20-16, the Sharks came back scoring six unanswered points to take a 22-20 lead late into the first set.
  • Down 24-21 the Crimson and Grey stormed back to score four unanswered points of its own to lead 25-24.
  • Following the 25th point both teams exchanged back and forth leads as each looked to go ahead by two to capture the set.
  • As the Panthers trailed 28-29 the women scored three straight points to win the set 31-29.
  • Set two witness Nova jump out to a 10-5 lead.
  • The Panthers looked to get back into the set before falling behind 20-13 and later 23-14.
  • Ahead by eight points with the set at 24-16, Nova recorded the final point to capture set two 25-16 and tie the match up at 1-1.
  • The Crimson and Grey went ahead 4-2 at the beginning of the third set, until the Sharks tied it up at 5-5.
  • Nova later recaptured the lead at 12-11 before the Panthers took back over 14-12.
  • Thanks to four unanswered points, the Sharks would once again go ahead 18-17.
  • Tech's attempted to close out the third set fell short when they led 22-20, Nova scored five of the next six points to win set three 25-23 and take the 2-1 match lead.
  • Set four had the Panthers get out to another lead at 6-5, until the Sharks went on multiple runs eventually jumping ahead toa 19-10 lead.
  • The Panthers brought the match back to within four points down 23-19 until Nova scored the next two points to claim set four 25-19 and win the match 3-1.
  • Katie Erdmann recorded her eighth 20 or more kill game recording 25.5 points with three total blocks, two set assists and one service ace along with a .311 hitting percentage.
  • Lilian Muszynski recorded 12.5 points from 10 kills, one solo block and three blocks' assists.
  • Devyn Glassgold tallied a total of 10.5 points totaling seven kills, two service aces and three block assists.
  • Kenzie Delacher recorded 36 set assists and 12 digs in the match.
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
  • Volleyball is now 21-30 all time against Nova since 2990.
  • The teams last win against the Sharks was October 13th. 2018 with Tech's last home win against Nova being September 14th, 2018.
  • Delacher edged her way into the Panthers record book as she now holds the spot for the 10th most assists in a single season by a Panther with 956 set assists.
  • She is also the first Panther to recorded 900 assists and 300 digs in a single season.
  • Kari Bogen is now tied for the eighth most digs in a single season by a panther with 513, tied with Katie Rice who accomplished that number in 2001.
 
UP NEXT: The Panthers will finish the season on the road with their first of three games taking place Wednesday night at Lynn University. The Match is set to start at 7:00 pm at the de Hoernle Sports & Cultural Center.
