COACHES CORNER:
"I thought once again we did a great job defensively and that's been the cornerstone of our team this year for our success," said head coach Billy Mims. "That comes from the outstanding commitment we've made on the defensive side of the floor. We held them to just 25 points in the first half on their home floor and gave a consistent effort throughout the game on defense.
"One of the huge things tonight was the rebounding. We've been a good rebounding team this year, but tonight we did it really well," Mims said. "Elias Martin had a huge night on the boards with six offensive rebounds and if you look we won the second chance points tonight 11-6 and I think a lot of that was down to Elias. He finished with a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and really stood out to me."
"Another thing that really helped us, every time Lynn tried to make a run in the second half, we responded with a big shot," Mims said. "Our big three that has been shooting the ball well pretty much all season, Sean Houpt, Sesan Russell and Niall Harris were all in double-figures with Sean and Niall scoring 21 and Sesan dropping 17. If you look at the stats these three were a combined 11-19 from three."
"I thought the 3-point shooting, the rebounding and the defensive effort was the big difference in the game for us." Mims said.
UP NEXT: Florida Tech has a quick turnaround as it hosts Thomas University (Ga.) in a nonconference game tomorrow December 4th. Tip-off from the Clemente Center is scheduled for 4 p.m.
