STATS OF GAME ONE:
- Tampa bats were hot in the top of the second inning, scoring seven runs including a two-run homerun by Corynn Miner.
- A sacrifice fly to center field scored Mariah Galhouse to make it 8-0 for the Spartans in the top of the 4th.
- Panthers cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the 5th. A bases loaded sacrifice fly by Alex Hendrian scored Cheyenne Nelson. Jolie Miracle followed with an out of the park three-run homerun to make it 8-4.
- Both teams added four more runs in the 6th inning. A RBI triple, RBI double, and a two RBI double for the Spartans brought them to 11 runs.
- Mikayla Wessel led off the bottom of the 6th with a single to shortstop, following a steal of second. Nelson doubled to left center plating Wessel. Chloe French reached on a fielding error, scoring Nelson. A two RBI single from Miracle gave the Panthers' runs three and four.
- Tampa would add their final run in the top of 7th on a RBI single, 13-8.
- Nelson and Mikayla Lewin each recorded a hit in the final inning.
- Kelsie Rivers (3-2) got the start in the circle allowing five runs on one strikeout.
- Nelson went 4-5 at bat with two doubles, two runs, and one RBI.
- Miracle went 3-3 with one homerun, one double, five RBI, and one run.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
- UT got it started with a two-run homerun by Corynn Miner in the top of the 1st.
- Panthers answered with a bases loaded single by Ella Gibson to plate Miracle and cut the deficit in half, 2-1, in the bottom of the 1st.
- Bottom of the 2nd, Nelson singled to left field to score Ashley Campbell and tie it up, 2-2.
- The winning run came in the bottom of the 4th as Wessel reached first on a field error and stole second. Nelson had a sacrifice bunt to advance Wessel to third. Miracle followed with a sacrifice fly to plate Wessel.
- Alex Hendrian (8-6) pitched a full game allowing five hits and two runs on four strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Panthers move to 52-71 all-time against Tampa.
- Mikayla Wessel and Cheyenne Nelson both reached 150 career-hits in the outing.
- Wessel has extended her on base streak to six.
- Lewin and Miracle both went 5-9 in the series.
UP NEXT: Florida Tech is back at home Tuesday, March 1 for a non-conference doubleheader against Wilmington (Del.). First pitch is at 4 p.m.
