Florida Tech holds on for game one win, falls in extra innings in game two

STATS OF GAME ONE:
  • Panthers were off to a quick start plating four in the opening frame. Chloe French singled to left field, plating Cheyenne Nelson to open the scoring. Victoria Szrom hit a two-run double to score French and Mikayla Lewin. The final run of the inning came when Jolie Miracle singled to right center scoring Szrom.
  • In the third, back-to-back singles and a sacrifice bunt put the Panthers in scoring position. Miracle followed with a sacrifice fly to score Lewin and put Tech up, 5-0.
  • ERAU's first run came in the fourth on a RBI single.
  • In the final inning, ERAU scored two on a two RBI double but fell short of the tie.
  • Six different Panthers recorded a hit in the win.
  • Samantha Guider improved to 13-6 pitching a complete-game for Tech.
  • Guider allowed just nine hits, three runs and two walks on one strikeout.
 
STATS OF GAME TWO:
  • Each team recorded one run in the first. Eagles' run came on a RBI single, while the Panthers scored on a throwing error.
  • A bases-loaded double to right field scored two runs to give ERAU the lead in the top of the fourth.
  • Panthers answered back plating one on a RBI single by Jolie Miracle.
  • ERAU picked up some momentum adding three in the top of the seventh.
  • A RBI fielders choice, RBI single, and RBI groundout put the Eagles up, 6-2.
  • Bottom of the seventh, Tech tied it up in a thrilling fashion to force extra innings.
  • Mya Ogbodiewg took a hit by pitch and Whitney Ellis walked to lead the inning. A ground out by Mikayla Wessel allowed both players to advance a base.
  • Cheyenne Nelson followed with a sacrifice fly to plate Ogbodiewg.
  • Next at bat, Chloe French singled to center field scoring Ellis.
  • Mikayla Lewin took a hit by pitch, putting Peyton Anders – who pinch ran for French – on second.
  • Victoria Szrom singled up the middle to score Anders and cut the deficit to one.
  • Ella Gibson singled to center field to load the bases. The tying run came on a walk by Miracle, forcing extra innings.
  • In the eighth inning, the Eagles were retired in order while the Panthers saw one base runner.
  • ERAU's Haley Sandridge singled to lead off the top of the ninth, followed by back-to-back groundouts putting a Sandridge on third. ReAnne Drayton's single to shortstop would score Sandridge to give ERAU the lead.
  • Looking to tie it up again, the Panthers had the bases-loaded but ERAU beat Lewin to home for the out.
  • Alex Hendrian got the start in the circle for the Panthers, allowing eight hits, six runs – five earned – and one walk on two strikeouts.
  • Samantha Guider took the loss in the circle allowing two hits and one run in one inning of work.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Panthers move to 10-8 all-time against the Embry-Riddle Eagles.
  • Game one win was Florida Tech's third win of the season over a ranked opponent.
  • With her double in game one, Victoria Szrom is now tied at ninth all-time in program history for career doubles with 31.
  • Cheyenne Nelson moved up to eight all-time in program history for hits with 185.
  • Nelson moved up to tied fifth all-time in program history for total bases with 243.
  • Mikayla Wessel ties tenth all-time in program history for hits with 181.
