Panthers Late Goal Clips Eagles in Season Opener

Ettore Casadei nets first career goal as a Panther

STATS OF THE MATCH: 
  • The Panthers put pressure on the eagles right from the beginning. Tech held a 6-0 advantage on shots in the first half.
  • ERAU's goalkeeper Thomas Loesel came up big in the ninth minute when Tomas Casas kicked a strong bouncing shot. Loesel dove to the right and deflected the ball keeping Tech off the board.
  • Panthers next opportunity came 16 minutes later when Fabio Amaral had a skipping shot but was deflected once again by Loesel.
  • Teams went into the half tied at 0-0.
  • Tech brought even more momentum into the second half, outshooting ERAU 8-0. While the Eagles were able to get across the midfield line more frequently, the Panther defensive didn't let them through.
  • The biggest save of the game came at the 62nd minute when Loesel blocked Amaral's cannon with his right arm.
  • Tech continued to push through creating chances to take the lead.
  • In the 73rd minute, a cross from the right side of the field went directly to Sjur Drechsler. Drechsler's header went across the box right to Ettore Casadei where he used his head to send it into the right corner, giving the Panthers the lead.
  • After 90 minutes, Tech out shot ERAU 14-0 with nine on goal. Panthers led in corner kicks, 11-0.
  • Loesel had a big night for the Eagles making eight saves.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Florida Tech is now 9-1 against Embry-Riddle.
  • Casadei recorded his first career goal with the Panthers
  • The Panthers have won or tied every season opener since 2012
UP NEXT: Florida Tech will be back in action Saturday, Aug. 27, against Wingate at Rick Stottler Field. Kick off is set for 7:00 p.m.
