Panthers Fall in Battle with Florida Southern

MELBOURNE, Fla.- The Panthers moved to 6-6 on the season and 1-2 in SSC play with a 3-0 loss against Florida Southern. Mocs earned their first SSC win of the season.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • Florida Southern rushed out to a 4-0 start which quickly became a 9-7 run giving the Mocs a 13-7 advantage.
  • Both teams recorded three straight points before trading side-outs for four points.
  • The Panthers scored the next five points to make the comeback and cut the deficit to one point.
  • FSC took their lead to two before Tech tallied three straight kills to take their first lead of the set 20-19.
  • Tied up 23-23, FSC took the final two points of the set with a kill and a Panther error.
  • Panthers held a slim 5-2 lead to open set two, but FSC quickly took it away by winning the next five out of six points and never looked back.
  • Tech kept it close, trailing by only one 12-11, but the Mocs slowly pulled away, building a lead of six (20-14).
  • FSC would close out the set by winning five of the final eight rallies to take a 2-0 lead.
  • After scoring the first five points of set three, Tech recorded the next four points.
  • Tech kept it close once again, never trailing by more than three points for most of the set.
  • Back-to-back attack errors by FSC put the Panthers down by one 21-20.
  • The Mocs won four of the final five points on three kills and a Tech error to take set three, 25-21, and close out the match 3-0.
  • Katie Erdmann led the Panthers with 17 kills, two digs, and two block assists.
  • Kenzie Delacher posted 30 assists to go along with 10 digs, and one kill.
  • Kari Bogen recorded a match-high 17 digs
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • The Panthers are now 9-71 all-time against Florida Southern.
  • Tech's last win against the Mocs at home was October 26, 2018.
  • Erdmann ranks third in the SSC in kills per set averaging 3.82.
  • Bogen ranks third in the SSC in digs per set averaging 4.69.
