No. 6 Men's Soccer Earns Draw With Florida Southern

MELBOURNE, Fl.- .- Florida Tech men's soccer welcomed Florida Southern to Rick Stottler Field after being on the road for a few matches. After being down 1-0 at the half, the Panthers rallied to finish in a 2-2 draw. 

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF THE MATCH: 
  • The Mocs came ready to play and applied pressure early in the first half, allowing them to get on the board early. 
  • Florida Southern's leading scorer Henri Tophoven scored in the 17' minute of play. 
  • The Panthers went into the half down 1-0. 
  • Tech brought the momentum in the second half and just three minutes into the second half, Ettore Casadei knocked in a goal to tie it up 1-1. 
  •  Casadei scored his fourth goal of the season. 
  • It wasn't long before Tech's leading scorer Fabio Amaral took a shot in the 67' minute of play and found the back of the net to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead. 
  • Amaral scored his fourth goal on the season.
  • The Mocs weren't done yet and with just about four minutes left of play, Felix Aakerberg and Victor Beker assisted Tophoven to net his second goal of the evening to even it up 2-2. 
  • For the next four minutes both teams battled, but neither were able to find the game winner. 
  • Tech outshot Florida Southern 11-7 including 8-5 shots on goal, and corner kicks 8-6.  
  • Luis Tovar Romero, Sr. recorded 3 saves, while Florida Southern's Eduardo D'avino recorded 3 saves. 
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Florida Tech is now 30-17-5 all-time against Florida Southern
  • For the second game in a row, Casadei and Amaral scored both goals in the match. 
  • Amaral's goal was the sixth of his career. 
  • This is the third straight game Amaral has scored a goal for the Panthers. 
  • Tech has had six games with 10 or more shots this season. 
  • The Panthers remain unbeaten in their last five matchups with the Mocs at Rick Stottler Field. 
 
UP NEXT: Florida Tech will be back home on Tuesday, Sept. 27 to take on Rollins. Kick-off is set for 6: 00 p.m.
