Panthers Battled Buccaneers In Tough loss at Home
MELBOURNE, Fla.- After two road games, the Panthers returned home for their first game at home in the Clemente Center. Florida Tech battled until the buzzer but came up short against the Buccaneers.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

FIRST QUARTER
- Barry got off to a quick lead with an 8-0 run.
- Florida Tech got on the board with a layup by Remingtyn Smith.
- Back-to-back baskets from Divine Guthrie and Smith with 1:05 to go cut the margin to seven.
- Heading into the second quarter, the Panthers trailed by eight.
SECOND QUARTER
- Guthrie got the Panthers going with a layup to start the second quarter and cut the deficit to six.
- A 7-0 run by the Panthers tied the game at 21 with 3:08 to go.
- Barry was able to sink a three pointer on the other end to end Tech's run.
- Lina Stranger-Johanessen drove to the basket drawing the foul. Stranger-Johanessen made one out of two free-throws.
- Florida Tech outscored the Buccaneers 17-12 in the second quarter.
- At the half the Buccaneers led 28-25.
THIRD QUARTER
- Tai Roberts started Tech off with a jumper to trim the deficit to one.
- A 6-0 run by the Buccaneers pushed their lead to nine with 4:31 to go.
- The Panthers responded with a 7-2 run capped off by a layup from Aiste Vaitekunaite.
- A three pointer by the Buccaneers ended the third 46-38.
FOURTH QUARTER
- With 10 minutes left of play, the Panthers were
- Sarah Liberatore drove hard to the basket drawing a foul and a chance for a three point play. She made her free-throw to put tech within nine.
- A steal by the Panthers and a deep three from Vaitekunaite cut the deficit to six and led the Buccaneers to call a timeout with 1:47 to go.
- Out of the timeout, Barry would end the game on an 8-0 run.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Vaitekunaite led the way finishing with 12 points, three rebounds, two steals, and one block.
- Roberts tallied 10 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
- Smith added eight points, three rebounds, and five assists.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Florida Tech is now 45-35 in the all-time series against Barry.
- Barry shot 40% (22-55) from the field, including 36% (8-22) from the three, and 78% (14-18) at the free throw line.
- The Panthers shot 31% (18-59) from the field, 22% (2-9) from behind the three-point line, and 74% (14-19) from the free-throw line.
- Barry led in rebounds (43-32), second chance points (12-9), and assists (20-18).
- The Panthers led in steals (14-5).
- Both teams had 24 points in the paint and two blocks.
