MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's soccer team used two goals in the ninth minute of the match to defeat Barry, 2-0, on Wednesday night at Rick Stottler Field.

STATS OF THE MATCH
- In just the seventh minute of the match, Florida Tech drew a foul in the box to earn a penalty kick.
- Daniela Tobon's took the penalty kick but her attempt was stopped by the Barry keeper. Off the rebound, Tobon dished a pass off to Eve Tiktikakis who deposited her shot into a wide-open net to give the Panthers an early 1-0 lead in the ninth minute.
- On the next Panther possession, Marem Ndiongue worked her way into the Buccaneers' box and passed the ball off to Lauryn Wood who smashed a shot past the diving keeper to give Tech a 2-0 advantage just nine minutes into the match.
- The Panthers continued to dominate possession and apply pressure on Barry's defense for the next several minutes.
- Tech managed to outshoot Barry, 8-0 in the first half, but were unable to find the back of the net again and the teams went into halftime with a score of 2-0.
- Barry's threatened to score in the 51st minute when Makenzie Shean smoked a shot from just outside the box, but the attempt was just barely wide-right of the net.
- Two minutes later, Savannah Oxley had an opportunity to score after she took a shot of her from just outside the box, but the Buccaneers keeper made a great save and knocked the ball over the crossbar.
- Both teams went back and forth for possession over the next several minutes as the rain began to come down.
- In the 87th of the match, Ndiongue broke away from the defense and had a one-on-one with the goalie. She ripped a shot on target, but the keeper was able to come up with the save.
- Barry made a push to try and score a goal in the last three minutes but was unable to get a shot off and the game ended with a score of 2-0.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Florida Tech moves to 10-10-7 all-time against Barry.
- The Panthers have now won two matches in a row against the Buccaneers. Their last win came in the SSC Tournament on Oct. 31, 2022.
- This is the first time Tech has won consecutive games against Barry since 2011.
- Marem Ndiongue continues to climb up the Panthers' record books. Her assist in tonight's match ties her with two others for all-time assists in program history with 12.
- Ayana Aoyagi earned her sixth clean sheet of the season in goal.
- Tonight's game marked game number 50 for head coach Ryan Moon. The win makes 25 during his tenure as head coach and he has amassed a .650 winning percentage. No team has scored more than two goals against the Panthers under Moon's guidance.
