MELBOURNE, Fla. – In a third-round thriller match between Florida Tech and West Florida, Tech found themselves battling to come from behind in regulation and in overtime. An exhilarating last-minute goal in overtime by the Panthers would send the game to penalty kicks, where the Panthers would prevail.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
- The Panthers controlled the opening minutes of the match, getting the first two shots off.
- Momentum evened out, and UWF recorded the next two shots, with one finding the hands of Iker Bastida.
- In the 31st minute, a foul in the box and a made penalty kick put Tech down 1-0.
- Eight minutes later, Osvaldo Santana attempted to tie it up but was unsuccessful as the Argonauts keeper made the save.
- The Argonauts took first possession to open the second period, the first shot came in the 56th minute as Bastida tallied another save.
- UWF saw an opportunity in the 69th minute when a corner kick placed the ball at the post. Bastida came up big with the diving stop to keep the score 1-0.
- In the 73rd minute, Joakim Jahnsen crossed it into the box from the right side, landing at the feet of Oskar Ihlen who tapped it into the back of the net for the equalizer.
- Neither team could find the game-winner for the remainder of regulation.
- Less than a minute into overtime, UWF was awarded another penalty kick after a Florida Tech foul. Eduardo Pampolini netted the go-ahead.
- Tech fought to tie it for the next 18 minutes, but it wasn't until the final minute of the second overtime that they found their moment.
- Tech was awarded a free kick from 35 yards out, Santana sent it into the box to Sjur Drechsler to keep the Panthers alive.
- Fabio Amaral got things started by netting the first PK. Bastida stopped UWF first penalty to put the Panthers up 1-0.
- Santana and UWF's Fynn Geigle each made the next two PKs to make it 2-1 Tech.
- Next up, Filippo Fazzi hit the crossbar, and UWF's Marcus Pereira converted his PK to tie it up 2-2.
- In the next round, Oskar Ihlen netted his and once again Bastida came up big with the save to make it 4-2.
- The Panthers needed just one more PK to win the thriller.
- Jahnsen sealed the deal with his PK and Tech advances 4-2.
- UWF outshot Tech 12-10 with 8-5 on goal.
- Bastida tied his season-high saves with six.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Panthers hold an 12-8-3 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament.
- Tech is now 2-1-1 all-time against the Argonauts
- This was the first meeting between the teams since the second round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament when the Panthers defeated the Argonauts 2-1 in Melbourne.
- This marks Tech's seventh trip to the Elite Eight and the first since 1993.
