Another School Record Broken During Day Three of SSC Championships

Clearwater, Fla. – The Florida Tech men's and women's swim teams competed in day three of the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Championships on Friday which saw the 100 Fly, 400 IM, 200 Free and 400 Medley Relay prelims, B-Finals and A-Finals all take place along with the 200 Medley Relays.
 
Through two days, the men's (137 points) and women's (134 points) both currently stand in seventh place.

200 Free
Nicole Rautemberg was Friday's star as she set a new school record in the event during the prelims with a time of 1:50.27. The time broke this previous mark of 1:50.60, which was set by Valentina Carvajal at the 2018 SSC Championships. Rautemberg then finished eighth in the A Final thanks to a time of 1:51.04. Kate Helminiak took fourth in the B Final of the 200 Free with a 1:51.54 finish.

David Armstrong of the men's team finished seventh in the men's B Final 200 free with a time of 1:40.80.
 
100 Fly
John Fonnotto finished sixth in the men's A Final with a time of 48.43, while Reston Bartlett placed seventh in the B Final thanks to a time of 49.78.
 
400 IM
Alex Knodel earned third place in the women's B Final with a time of 4:36.01, which was 0.63 seconds ahead of fourth-place Kiera Ceely who had a time of 4:36.64.

in the men's 400 IM, Josh McLean of the Panthers, placed seventh in the men's B Final with a time of 4:07.61.
 
400 Medley Relay
The men's team of Daniel Aizenberg, Connor Orth, Fonnotto and Max Martino placed fourth in the A Final through a time of 3:15.50. Meanwhile, the group of Nathaniel Allen, Colby Garthwaite, Reston Bartlett and Matthew Goembel took sixth in the B Final with a 3:28.87 finish.
 
On the women's side, the quartet of Christina Ramirez, Shaelyn Rutta, Rautemberg and Helminiak placed seventh in the A Final with a 3:53.29 time. The squad of Kat Reburn, Sophia Sichtnik, Reegan Tiltmann and Harper Powell took sixth in the B Final with a finish of 3:58.15.
 
Up Next: Day Four will begin at 10 A.M. tomorrow with the prelims for the 500 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast and 200 Fly followed by the finals beginning at 6 P.M which will feature the four mentioned prelims finals followed by the 200 Free Relays.
