Florida Tech Softball Drops Two Games on Day Two

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
GAME ONE:

STATS OF THE GAME:
  • Cheyenne Nelson started things off with a double to left field in the 1st inning. Celeste Casillas moved Nelson over to third on a sacrifice bunt.
  • Chloe French grounded out, but Nelson was able to score the only run of the day for the Panthers.
  • A few errors by Florida Tech in the bottom of the 1st inning allowed West Alabama to plate one run.
  • In the top of the 2nd inning, Tech stranded two runners.
  • A homer by West Alabama gave them a 2-1 lead.
  • Alex Hendrian took the lost. Hendrian threw 5.0 innings, allowing one earned run, one unearned run on three hits.
 
 
GAME TWO:
Final: Florida Tech 2, #4 Auburn Montgomery 9

STATS OF THE GAME:
  • Jolie Miracle doubled in the first 1st inning driving in Nelson. Freshman Miranda Schwartz followed with a double of her own bringing home Miracle to give Tech a 2-0 lead heading into the second inning.
  • In the third inning, AUM drove in seven runs.
  • Florida Tech had a scoring opportunity in the fourth inning but stranded two on base.
  • Freshman pitcher Madilyn Dutton came in to pitch for Hendrian in the bottom of the fourth inning.
  • AUM drove in two more runs on four hits in the 6th inning.
  • Madilyn Dutton pitched 3.0 innings allowing seven runs on seven hits.
  • Miracle went 2-4 at the plate with one RBI.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Panthers move to 3-4 in the all-time series against West Alabama.
  • This was the first meeting between Florida Tech and Auburn Montgomery. 
 
UP NEXT: Florida Tech continues at the Gulf Shores Invitational against Spring Hill College at 10 a.m. before facing #5 North Georgia at 12:30 p.m.
