Ehmann Scores Career High 16 Points in Loss to Sharks

Panthers had five players in double-figures tonight

MELBOURNE, Fla.- The Florida Tech Panthers showed some resiliency tonight battling in a physical game against RV Nova Southeastern. Dalma Ehmann had a career night scoring 16 points against the Sharks, while Emily Acampora tallied a career-high five assists. Tai Roberts also had a career night with seven assists and four steals.

FIRST QUARTER 
  • Dalma Ehmann got the Panthers on the board first with a layup. The Sharks answered with back-to-back layups on the other end.
  • Both teams battled trading baskets on both ends of the court.
  • A 5-0 run by Nova Southeastern stretched their lead to six with 0:14 seconds left.
  • Tai Roberts just beat the buzzer on a layup to end the quarter and pull Tech within four: 21-17.
  • Ehmann scored eight of the Panthers 17 points in the first quarter.
 
SECOND QUARTER 
  • Grace Speer got the Panthers back within five on a layup.
  • A 5-0 run by the Sharks extended their lead to 10 with 6:33 to go.
  • Tech answered with a 6-0 run to close the gap to five.
  • Nova Southeastern outscored the Panthers 9-2 to end the quarter.
  • At the half, Florida Tech trailed 41-29.
 
THIRD QUARTER
  • Ehmann continued her impressive offensive performance to start the third quarter with another layup to start the third.
  • The Sharks continued to knock down shots on the other end.
  • Sarah Liberatore's jumper cut the lead to eight for the Sharks with 5:16 to go.
  • Nova Southeastern scored nine straight points to extend their lead to 17.
  • A three pointer from Aiste Vaitekunaite cut the margin to 14.
  • Heading into the final quarter, Tech trailed 64-44.
 
FOURTH QUARTER
  • Vaitekunaite's second three ball of the game got Tech going in the third.
  • The Panthers found some momentum and went on an 8-0 scoring run to cut the deficit to 12 with 6:55 left.
  • Lina Stranger-Johannessen's three pointer brought Tech within 11.
  • A steal by Emily Acampora led to a layup by Roberts and the Panthers only trailed by eight with 3:34 left on the clock.
  • A layup by the Sharks put them back on top by 13.
  • The Panthers never backed down chipping away to cut the margin to seven on a steal and layup from Stranger-Johannessen with one minute left of play.
  • Tech fouled Nova Southeastern with hopes of being able to tie the game, but the Sharks made their free-throws and survived a close game.
  • Florida Tech outscored Nova Southeastern 29-23 in the fourth quarter.

NOTABLE PANTHERS:
  • Florida Tech had five players in double figures tonight.
  • Ehmann scored a career high 16 points and 5 rebounds. 
  • Roberts put up 14 points, a career-high seven assists, four rebounds and another career-high four steals.
  • Vaitekunaite added 12 points and four rebounds.
  • Acampora had a career-high five assists on the night and five points.
  • Stranger-Johannessen contributed 11 points, four assists, four steals and three rebounds.
  • Liberatore tallied 10 points and five rebounds.  
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Florida Tech is now 27-23 in the all-time series against Nova Southeastern.   
  • Florida Tech shot 43% (28-65) from the field, 22% (4-18) from behind the three-point line, and 68% (13-19) from the free-throw line.  
  • The Panthers led in points off turnovers (15-14), points in the paint (42-32) and steals (13-9).
  • NSU shot 52% (27-52) from the field, including 39% (9-23) from the three, and 73% (24-33) at the line.
  • The Sharks led in rebounds (37-32), bench points (27-17), and fast break points (6-0).

UP NEXT: Florida Tech will be back home Saturday, Feb. 11th to face Palm Beach Atlantic. Tip-off is set for 2:00PM.
