WINTER PARK, FLA.- Florida Tech softball traveled to Winter Park to take on Rollins in an SSC matchup on Friday afternoon. The Panthers took game one, 3-1 before dominating game two 11-2. Florida Tech snapped the Tar's eleven-game win streak.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Florida Tech 3, Rollins 1

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Rollins scored one run in the bottom of the 2nd inning on a sacrifice fly.
- In the 5th inning, Mya Ogbodiewgu reached on an error by the Tars shortstop. Miranda Schwartz single to center field moving Ogbodiewgu to second.
- Layna Pollock reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a throwing error by the pitcher. Schwartz and Ogbodiewgu both scored on the play to give Tech a 2-1 lead.
- Cheyenne Nelson reached first on a fielding error and Pollock was able to score another run from third.
- Heading into the bottom of the 5th inning, the Panthers had a 3-1 lead.
- Ashley Troutman stole second in the bottom of the 6th inning, but Jolie Miracle threw a dart down the third base line to pick off Troutman at third. Troutman leads the Tars in stolen bases, but the Panthers held her to just one SB.
- Back-to-back walks by Rollins in the bottom of the 7th put some pressure on the Panthers.
- Florida Tech's defense was able to get out of the jam and secure the win.
- Allison Platon picked up her sixth win of the season. Platon allowed just one hit and one run through seven innings.
GAME TWO:
Final: Florida Tech 11, Rollins 2
Records: Florida Tech (16-16, 6-8 SSC) | Rollins (17-11, 3-8 SSC)
STATS OF THE GAME:
- In the bottom of the 1st inning, a RBI single by the Tars put Rollins on the board first.
- The Panthers responded in the sixth inning scoring six runs. Pollock got things going with a single to left field. Kelly McLaughlin reached on an error, moving Pollock to second.
- Cheyenne Nelson's RBI single brought home Pollock. Mikayla Lewin followed with another RBI single to score McLaughlin.
- Ella Gibson's SAC fly scored Nelson from third.
- Ogbodieqwu's three-run homer put the Panthers on top 6-1.
- The Tars tacked on another run in the bottom of the 3rd to cut the deficit 6-2.
- In the top of the 4th inning, Gibson's single to center field scored two more runs for Tech.
- Heading into the 6th inning, the Panthers led 8-2.
- Nelson scored on a wild pitch in the 6th. Ogbodiewgu's RBI double put another run on the board for Tech.
- Ogbodiewgu would eventually score on another wild pitch before the inning ended.
- Sam Guider got the job done in the circle for the Panthers Guider picked up her fifth win of the season. She threw six innings allowing 10 hits and two runs. Guider struck out here and walked just one.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Florida Tech is now 60-56 against Rollins in the all-time series.
- This is the first meeting in Winter Park since April 2021.
- The Panther's last series win in Winter Park was in April 2019.
- Allison Platon has gone the distance in each of her past three starts with two of them being seven-inning outings. Platon threw the third complete game of her career.
- For the seventh time this season, the Panthers produced 10 or more hits in a game.
- Cheyenne Nelson went 5-for-7 at the plate with 2 RBIs and three stolen bases.
- Nelson is 3rd in the SSC in hits with 43.
- Ella Gibson had 3 RBIs in game two.
- Mya Ogbodiewgu hit her 6th homerun of the season. Ogbodiewgu sits 2nd in the SSC in home-runs.
- Ogbodiewgu had 4 RBIs in game two.
