MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's soccer team battled Lenoir-Rhyne to the last few minutes to earn a 1-1 draw and remain unbeaten on the season.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
- Lenoir-Rhyne opened the match with a flurry of shots in the opening minutes of the match. Elin Hansson snuck one past Panther keeper, Ayana Aoyagi, in the 15th minute to give the Bears an early 1-0 lead.
- The Bears continued to dominate possession for the majority of the first half. Hansson threatened again in the 35th minute, but Aoyagi came up with a great save to stifle Lenoir-Rhyne's momentum.
- Lenoir-Rhyne held Tech to no shots in the first half.
- The Panthers came out in the second half with a sense of urgency. Savannah Oxley had an opportunity to score in the 50th minute, but her shot was sent just over the crossbar.
- Aoyagi made another huge save in the 56th minute to keep the Bears' lead at 1-0.
- After some back-and-forth for possession, Oxley fielded a pass just inside the box in the 79th minute and ripped a shot toward the goal. Her attempt came up short as the Lenoir-Rhyne keeper made the save to hold the Bears' lead.
- With time starting to dwindle, Tech gained some momentum and started to dominate possession.
- In the 85th minute, JoJo Michaels fielded the ball down in the corner and sent a perfect cross into the box. Panther teammate, Daniela Tobon, settled the ball and deposited her shot into the back of the net to tie the match and give it its final score of 1-1.
- Tech outshot Lenoir-Rhyne, 5-2, in the second half.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Florida Tech moves to 2-0-4 all-time against Lenoir-Rhyne. The teams have tied three out of the last four matchups.
- Daniela Tobon's goal was her first of the 2023 season.
- JoJo Michaels has now tallied an assist in back-to-back matches.
- This was the first match this season that the Panthers were held to single-digit shots.
